New Year is a very special time in Innsbruck. The city is filled with Christmas Markets, often the pistes and slopes are already fully covered in snow and the people are enjoying the relaxing time between Christmas and the New Year’s Eve.
Innsbruck has been one of the first cities to adopt a firework-free New Year’s celebration. This not only ensures a stress-free evening for all animals but also significantly helps restore the cities beauty after a night of celebrating. There’s no New Year celebration however without an amazing display of colours. In Innsbruck we chose to do so by displaying a huge laser show above the heart of the city, the river Inn. The show is synced to music from the previous year.
Privately one still has the option to light fireworks and also the little one’s can enjoy some fireworks, specially curated for them by the city a day earlier. On the 30th of December, usually starting from 2pm you can find a lot of child-friendly attractions in the old town followed by a firework display on the north face at cloud9 starting at 3pm. This display can also be witnessed from the city centre.
Witnessing the new year’s celebration from the north face gives you a unique perspective of the celebration and costs only the ticket for the gondola. Here are further details regarding the mountain new year’s celebration.
